The ones that don’t close on you

Cure Coffeehouse keeps the longest daily hours of any cafe in the city — 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, no Sunday closure to plan around. That alone makes it the default answer if you don’t know yet how long your day is going to run.

Evening sessions

If your work happens after a day job rather than instead of one, Tous les Jours Bakery & Cafe is the standout — open until 10 p.m. most nights and until 8 on Sundays. It’s a bakery first, so there’s real food on hand if you’re settling in for a few hours rather than just topping off caffeine.

Persnickety Crane Cafe is worth knowing specifically for Thursdays and Fridays, when it stays open until 7 p.m. instead of the 4 p.m. close it keeps the rest of the week — a useful pocket if you’re trying to close out a work week somewhere other than your kitchen table.

Early and quiet

East End Cafe opens at 6 a.m. on weekdays, and on Fridays it does something the others don’t: it closes in the afternoon and then reopens 7–10 p.m., effectively giving you two separate windows in one day if the morning session runs short.

Column 15 at the Mariners’ sits inside the Mariners’ Museum grounds and keeps a steady 8 a.m.–4 p.m. every single day, weekends included. The museum setting tends to mean a calmer room than a strip-mall coffee shop — worth it if you want fewer interruptions rather than more people-watching.

The Captain’s Den runs 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, no days off, which puts it in the same reliable category as Buckroe and Firehouse — not the longest hours in town, but hours you can actually count on.

Worth a stop, not a work session

Not every cafe here is built for a laptop afternoon, and that’s fine — Cups and Claws Cat Cafe and Lounge is a better fit for a break than a deadline, and it keeps odd hours besides, closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays and open only into early evening the rest of the week. Same goes for Ruth’s Coffee Co., which runs a tighter 10 a.m.–4 p.m. window — fine for a midday coffee, tight if you’re planning to stay for hours.

The short version

If you need a place that’s simply always there, start with Cure or Buckroe. If your day starts before the sun’s fully up, East End or Buckroe get you in the door earliest. If you’re working past dinner, Tous les Jours is the one place in this list built for it. Everything else is a rotation, depending on which side of town you’re already on.
